Passion

Poetry writing a means to express innermost feelings…..
Paprazzi a means to learn worldly dealings..
Reading with which imaginations go beyond cealings…
Loneliness that people search in their dwellings….
Charity ..one thing that counts on your daily doing
Cooking to triumph over your findings…
Voices that always sound Healing
Fights that you cherish with your sibling…
Babies that are teething….
Dreams that leave you anticipating…
Lost time that keeps u thinking…
Humid air that you wish keeps flowing…
Starry skies that keep you wondering…
Dew drops that disappear and leave your face shrinking…
and there’s more to add to this listing…
Passions are worth having….!

Updating SPListItem without changing versions

The below snippet is usually used to update SPListItems. The Item.Update() updates the database with the changes, creates a new version and changes the Modified and Modified By fields.

SPList list = web.Lists[“List1”];
SPListItem item = list.Items[0];
item[“Field1”] = “Test”;

item.Update();
list.Update();

If you want to avoid version changes, Modified and Modified By fields from getting updated , Item.SystemUpdate() would be the right way to do it.
SPList list = web.Lists[“List1”];
SPListItem item = list.Items[0];
item[“Field1”] = “Test”;

item.SystemUpdate(false);
list.Update();

The argument false informs the SP object Model not increment versions.

Microsoft SharePoint is one of the most sought after technologies for businesses. The demand for professionals with these skills has surged in recent times creating a great opportunity for .NET developers to upgrade their skills. WSS 3.0 is the free version of SharePoint whereas Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS) is the commercial release.

WSS3 installs on Windows Server only which means either an accessible server machine or a virtual machine on your primary development machine if running a client OS, for example via Microsoft’s free Virtual PC product .With Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, IT professionals can extend the Windows SharePoint Services foundation to create new, efficient, Web-based tools and services specific to the organization, department, business process, or industry vertical.

MOSS runs on WSS integrating with  MS Office applications, Enterprise Content Management, Search, collaboration blogs, wikis , delivery of information stored in SharePoint via RSS, and the ability to take content and lists offline with MS Outlook 2007. Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer 2007 allows easy customization of SharePoint sites, building reporting tools and applications without writing or deploying new code.

Waiting for Nov4th,2008

Are you suffering from Election anxiety?. “This is like waiting for the results of a biopsy” , said one of the critics. If the biopsy result comes back positive, there’s still a potential cure. With this, there’s no cure. The result is final.Well…I’m enjoying all the hype around it. 😉

Both candidates are passionate about what they believe and there are distinct differences in how they engaged their crowd while addressing their passions. Obama sounded professional with his tone of voice, staying focused on the person who asked the question for a while and then talking to the section of people around the questioner. McCain was more on the motivational side and engaged fuller audience by walking around other sections. It is a hard job engaging people sitting around while emphasizing on thoughts embedded deep within your roots. But when it comes to acknowledging , Obama certainly did outshine for his non-verbal behaviour. He made his presence felt, looking at McCain and respectfully waiting for his turn to speak. McCain showed an impression of impatience and being a distracted listener rather than looking at Obama.

“John McCain’s impetuosity is either thrilling or disturbing. Barack Obama’s cool is either sober or detached. It’s clear now how each would govern.” – Newsweek,September Issue. This defintely protrudes the fact that both candidates look at the world differently. McCain is passionate, sometimes impulsive and unpredictable; Obama is precise, occasionally withdrawn and methodical.

The US Election ’08 has been ‘Entertaining’ to the rest of the world(-Courtesy:MSNBC). Rest of the world is concerned about the possible trade protectionism, dispute around climate change, human rights and captialism. WIth just a day to go we’ll know who has been simply holding out and whose resistance is real. The effect of Election ’08 has soared up the skies and the whole world is waiting for new ideas and fresh leadership and  watching which ideal candidate would swear in legally as The President of U.S after 77 days.

With all the excitement surrounding this election marking it as one of the most historical events, I ended up blogging my thoughts on it. Hoping the new leadership paves way for a more pragmatic and positive impact far beyond America’s shores, I head home to see who makes it…the Illinois Senator or the Maverick… 🙂
